The Art of Disconnecting to Reconnect

This weekend, I had an important realization: the high expectations I feel aren’t coming from anyone else; they’re coming from me. In my journey to create and share social media content that uplifts, encourages, supports, and validates, I’ve set a demanding pace for myself. For nearly two months, I’ve been posting a reel every single day, aiming to inspire and empower parents and educators to live fully. While this mission is incredibly rewarding, it also comes with its own set of pressures.

This weekend, I decided to step back and reflect. I recognized that in order to continue creating content that genuinely resonates, I need to take care of myself first. It’s essential to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. So, I made a conscious decision to disconnect from social media and spend quality time with my family camping—one of my favorite pastimes.

Camping offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There’s no laundry to fold, no cleaning to be done—just the beauty of nature and the luxury of relaxation. Being surrounded by the serene environment allows me to recharge, appreciate the simple moments, and enjoy uninterrupted time with those I love. It’s in these moments of tranquility that I find true rejuvenation, which is crucial for maintaining a consistent and authentic presence online.

Disconnecting this weekend reminded me of the importance of self-care. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily responsibilities and forget to take a breather. But taking time to unwind isn’t just beneficial; it’s necessary. When we prioritize our well-being, we can give more to others, whether it’s through our work, our relationships, or the content we share online.

I want to encourage all of you to find time to take care of yourselves. Whether it’s a weekend camping trip, a quiet evening with a book, or simply a walk in the park—find what recharges your soul. Enjoy the company of your loved ones and embrace the opportunity to be present in the moment. These breaks are not just about rest; they’re about reconnecting with what truly matters.

If you haven’t already, I invite you to follow my journey on Instagram. I share daily reels aimed at inspiring and validating the experiences of parents and educators. Let’s continue to support each other in finding meaning and fulfillment in our lives. Follow me here and join a community committed to living fully and authentically.

Stay inspired,

Annick
